Dear Fellow Marines & Member of Hotel Company, TBS Class 8-69:
As you may know, our Basic School Class 8-69 will celebrate its 50th Reunion in 2019. Several of your classmates have put together a Reunion Planning Committee that has started thinking about a reunion to be held in the Washington, DC area over the weekend of June 6-9, 2019.
Highlighted events for the weekend will include a tour of Officers Candidate School, TBS and the Quantico Museum as well as a tour of the WWII Memorial, Korean War Memorial and Vietnam Memorial. We will also have a plaque ceremony as well as a wreath laying ceremony for our fallen comrades.
On Friday evening, we will attend the Marine Corps 8th & I Evening parade. On Saturday evening, we will have a dinner at The Association of the United States Army’s General Gordon R. Sullivan Conference & Event Center located at 2425 Wilson Boulevard, Arlington, VA 22201.
The Conference & Event Center is located next door to the Hyatt Place Courthouse which will be the hotel where we will have a room block. We will have one or two high-ranking officials that will speak at one or more planned events. More details with specifics will ultimately follow as the planning continues.
Our first (and largest) endeavor is to try and locate as many of our 229 classmates so that we can spread the word about the event and ask them to “save-the-date.” So far, we have located approximately 85 classmates, but we need your help to find more.
We have attached a copy of a spreadsheet containing the list of all classmates from each platoon. As you will see, the first names are initials only which has made it difficult to find many folks. Please review the spreadsheet and let us know if you have any information on the folks we have not yet found. In addition, if you know the first name of someone but don’t have contact information, please send that to one of us as well as it will help with our search.
The Reunion Planning Committee would like to know if you have an interest in attending the reunion as well as any other ideas for activities over the weekend. We will ultimately be sending out a “Get-To-Know-You” Questionnaire, asking for photos while on active duty as well as current photos of everyone for a Cruisebook that will be given to everyone that weekend.
